Canine influenza and routine vaccinations
Canine influenza and canine parainfluenza are different infections. They should not be described as the same vaccine.
Influenza and parainfluenza are not the same.
Both names can appear in information about respiratory disease in dogs, but they refer to different viruses. A vaccine containing canine parainfluenza should not be described as a canine influenza vaccine.
Our published routine options are Canixin DHPPi/L and Canigen Lepto 4. Canixin includes a parainfluenza component; Canigen Lepto 4 is a leptospirosis vaccine. These are not advertised here as canine influenza protection.
Bring your dog’s vaccination card so the vet can check the products used, what is due and which plan suits your dog.
Start with your dog’s history.
Puppy courses
See the puppy vaccination guide for course prices, product-specific starting ages and intervals. Tell us about doses already given.
Adult boosters
Our published annual booster fee is £50. The components due depend on vaccination history and your dog’s needs. See routine vaccination options.
Travel or boarding requirements
Check the exact requirements with your destination or provider and discuss them with a vet in advance. Do not assume a routine vaccine covers every respiratory infection.
Ask about the symptoms before the vaccination.
A cough has several possible causes and does not establish a diagnosis of canine influenza. Call the practice, explain any cough or other respiratory signs and mention recent travel or contact with other dogs before attending.
Vaccination is preventive care, not treatment for an existing illness. If your dog has difficulty breathing or is seriously unwell, contact a vet urgently.
